Although of German-American descent, Danny Stevenson was born in Namibia, and raised between the Namib and Kalahari Deserts. His travels have taken him across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, but he calls South Africa home. His earliest memories date back to his childhood years, where he recalls listening to old vinyl records of the Beatles. His great love for music inspired Danny to pick up his dad’s guitar, and, with a little help from his friends, learn a few chords. He soon started lessons with a Jazz guitarist and started playing in various bands. While he studied medicine during the day, Danny spent many a hard day’s night composing and performing music in Cape Town, thereby keeping both passions alive.
calm.strong.grateful is Danny’s first album of music set to the powerful and beautiful words of the Bahá’í Writings. This project was born out of the realisation that in this day and age, the creation and recording of music needs little more than some instruments and a Mac – and perhaps a little bit of inspiration!
